Over the years the consumers of the internet have used this resource for many professional and personal needs. However, even though internet can seem like a good thing to us, it sometimes can be a bad thing and very threatening. Consumer security, and the protection of our data on websites and apps that we explore every day, is very important and should never be violated. Over the years there have been many services that in a way threaten this security and privacy and at the same time some services have helped us and most people are blind to this. The protection of our personal data on social media websites, to important data like medical information and social security is also affected in both ways. Consumer security and data privacy has affected we the consumers negatively through the lies from Facebook, ads containing malware from cyber criminals, non-malware, Google, and positively through LifeLock. Consumer security and data privacy is very important for everyone to know about because it can greatly affect us.
